Irregular Cycles
An irregular menstrual cycle can be 14 – 48+ days in between periods. A normal menstrual cycle is typically between 28-30 days. Many women can have irregular cycles starting anytime through-out their fertile years.
Some women have irregular cycles from menarche (onset of menstruation) and many have irregular cycles throughout their lifetime. Many others would have irregular cycles after a stressful event like surgery, childbirth or emotional trauma or stress.
It is important to identify and treat the root cause that may be associated with the underlying hormone imbalance of the adrenals, thyroid, pancreas, hypothalamus-pituitary axis and ovaries.
Common causes of irregular cycles:
- Thyroid problems – Hypothyroidism
PCOS – polycystic ovarian syndrome
Progesterone deficiency
Vitamin / mineral deficiency
Fibroids – estrogen dominance
Perimenopause
Premature ovarian failure
Testimonial
“After 3 years of unexplained amenorrhea, I decided to seek Dr. Kovalik’s help and after 5 months of weekly acupuncture and daily chinese herbs, I had 1 successful menstrual cycle. Several months later after continued treatment, I ovulated again, and got pregnant! My husband and I are beyond excited!”
