PDO Threads
What is a PDO thread lift?
PDO (polydioxanone) thread lift is an advanced aesthetic procedure that safely and instantly lifts loose skin on the face, neck and jowls with minimal downtime. PDO threads themselves have been used for decades in various medical applications such as suturing incisions.
How do PDO threads work?
First, it mechanically results in instant skin lifting. Second, it contracts fat tissue to result in instant skin tightening. Third, it promotes collagen production and neovascularization to renew your skin at the cellular level. All of this works together to give you enhanced skin texture, fewer fine lines and wrinkles and more elastic skin.
What to expect during treatment?
PDO Threads are needles that are pre-loaded with a thread. The needle is simply inserted in the subdermal level, parallel to the surface of the skin, and then the needle is pulled out. The PDO thread remains under the skin. The treatment session is approximately 45 minutes and there is minimal discomfort and recovery time. Once completed, you can return to work and go about your day.
What are the results?
The longevity of threads depends on several factors including the thickness of the threads and your body’s rate of metabolism. Most people find that threads have dissolved in 6-9 months. The effects of tightening and collagen stimulation can remain for 1-2 years or more.
Who is a candidate for a PDO thread lift?
The right candidate for a PDO Thread Lift is someone concerned with mild to moderate skin laxity on the face and neck. Skin laxity due to aging can occur in your mid 30’s to mid 50’s. If you are under 35, there may be other treatments that may be a better fit for your skin. If you are over 55 and suffer from severe skin laxity, then a surgical facelift may be a better option for you. The physicians at The Vitality Doctor will be able to advise during your consultation.
