Prolotherapy

Got PAIN? Prolotherapy Can Help.

Prolotherapy is a very specific treatment using injectables into painful joint regions promoting the healing to occur to strengthen loose ligaments and lessen the strain of tight tendons. It is great for any acute or chronic painful joints or back pain due to arthritis, sports injuries, aging, normal wear and tear. It is more natural and more effective in promoting healing, then steroid injections or nerve blocks. It has lasting immediate affects. Prolotherapy can be used in most all joints and anywhere there is PAIN. It can easily be used in conjunction with acupuncture or chiropractic care.

Prolotherapy, also called Regenerative Injection Therapy (RIT), is a minimally invasive injection procedure that stimulates the body’s natural healing process to repair ligaments and tendons. The injection of substances like dextrose, B12 and lidocaine into the damaged area actually stimulates inflammation and repair to promote healing. When ligaments are loosened and tendons are tightened to compensate for the joint instability, inflammation and degeneration result in pain.

The body will always compensate or move away from pain resulting in muscle tightness, spasms, trigger points, referred pain, instability of the joint and strain on other spinal structures.

Prolotherapy actually lays down new tissue by promoting inflammation- increasing blood flow to the area and repair of the damaged tissue which results in decrease in pain. The treatments can be long lasting.

The frequency of treatments depend on the severity of the inflammation and how the patient responds to the treatment. Typically, results will be seen in 2-6 treatments, 2-6 weeks apart. If there is no significant change after 3 treatments, the therapy will be evaluated.

Neural Prolotherapy

Neural prolotherapy is another aspect of prolotherapy that uses trigger point superficial injections along superficial nerves improving range of motion and relieving pain immediately. All injections include a natural sugar, dextrose that stimulates the healing process when injected in the problem areas. Dextrose’s affect on nerves is anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and pro-regenerative.

Neural prolotherapy has been advanced by Dr. John Lyftogt in New Zealand to treat neuropathic pain and other pain. He had treated Achilles tendinosis with >90% success rate. Neural prolotherapy has been extended to shoulder, neck, lower back, knee, upper and lower extremities. It also treats Trigeminal neuralgia, headaches, vertigo, carpal tunnel, and migraines.

Testimonial

“After one treatment of Neuroprolotherapy for my knee pain, I was immediately able to squat down without pain and my range of motion is almost 90% better. It is a very gentle, effective treatment, I would recommend it for anyone with pain. I am looking forward to another treatment.”
